Can someone tell me when using the inner driveshaft for lake type headers, do you cut one shaft in half to make the set, or does it take two shafts? I am looking to end up with the typical looking headers that are from back in the 40's.

One shaft cut in two equal pieces.

The 35-36 drive shaft is tapered on both ends. Cut off the splined ends,& then cut the tapered tube in half. You now have perfect lake pipes.
The picture above is the torque tube, not the driveshaft.

I wanted them longer so I used 2 driveshafts. I guess I would make a sample with something like Plumbing 4" plastic pipe from home depot before cutting up the hard to find driveshafts.

  9. I got me the best pair. They're angle cut and made by Gene Winfield back in the day. My most prized possession. :D

The steel in these things is superb, they make awsome tailpipes and produce great sound. Once you cut one in half, hold it loosely in your hand and tap it with a wrench. Yuo'll se what I mean.

  11. I like them longer so they don't look so generic...
