    Hello.
    I am Dunmar from Oklahoma.
Proud new owner of an old Ford.

1963 Galaxie 500 Club Victoria 2 door Hard top
i believe they are referred to as a Box Top.

She is I believe quite a unique little ride. I will slowly restore her to better than original. I would appreciate any and all knowledge, about this old classic, that any of you might be willing to share.

Great choice for a restore. '63 and '64 Galaxies are probably the most desired Fords. I am currently restoring a '63 XL convertible. You can find a lot of parts at sites like Dennis Carpenter, Ecklers, and Dearborn Classics. Also, you may want to check out the "Galaxie Club" on line. Of course Ebay is always a good place to check. I will be glad to give any help I can - just give me a shout. Good luck with your project.

There is something that is puzzling to me. This is 1963 500 with C code 289. From what I have been able to research, Ford came out with Fast back, at the same time they introduced the 289 motor ½ way through the year in 1963. But this car is from the first half of the year being the 2 door hard top club Victoria, or box top. I am thinking this might have been one of the last box tops made since it has the newer 289 motor. Is there a resource somewhere that can tell me how many of these, box top 2 doors, received this 289 motor configuration? And is this an anomaly?
I have seen a lot of 4 doors and a lot of convertibles with the 289 motor. But they continued those bodies throughout the full year. But was the two door hard top replaced with the fastback. Or did ford continue to make the box top after the introduction of the fastback in 1963?
    Thanks for your help.

I believe the 2 door "box top" production ended with the introduction of the "fast-back". The 289 had been developed for the Fairlane and Ford discontinued the 260 in favor of the 289 about mid year for all their cars so you are probably right in having one of the few "box tops" with a 289. 49,733 of the 2 door "box tops" were built vs 100,500 of the "fast-backs". That number includes 6 and v8 engines. I don't know of any source that would give you break down on individual engines. Ford also built 29,713 of the 2 door "box top" in the XL model and 33,870 in the "fast-back" XL model. I think the 289 is probably the best motor Ford ever built. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the help.
That is why I said She is I believe quite a unique little ride. I don't think they put very many of the 289 in the "Box Tops".
I have looked around for a few months, and I have not been able to find another one anywhere.
This is a Galaxie 500 but, it is not the XL. Any idea know how many of the box top 500's were made?
    Thanks

Here are the production numbers for the Galaxie 500 (6 and 8 cyl.) and not XL:
    Body 62 - 205,722
    61 - 21,137
    64 - 26,558
    63 - 49,733
    65 - 35,876
These production numbers include all engine sizes and types of transmissions. The Body style 66 is the "fastback" so the above numbers would represent all the "500" series built in 1963 whether 2 door or 4 door, sedan or hardtop and also the convertible.

    Hey Dunmar
Hello from Kansas - Welcome to the HAMB.

That is a great project car!
My mom had a 63 galaxy 500 4door 352/cruiseomatic she drove to church and work.
I got to take it to my senior prom in 1968 - a real cruiser.

I have alway thought the 63/64/65 galaxies were bada$$, watching them in the NASCAR races.
If Ford had tri-sixes, these would get my vote.

If you are interested in some reading, I poked around on the web and came up with a couple of things.
I included the hagerty price guide because they list by model, and may help you with the value of your car as you progress.

    Cheers 392modela.

    And Thanks 58ClubVictoria.

    According to my VIN 3E63C176738
the body style is a 63
A Galaxie 500 2 door club Victoria. So there were 49,733 made in all engine types. I ques ford did keep records of how many got each engine configuration.

    Thanks for the info Willy_P
I had found most of that info during my research. But the Hagerty price guide was new to me. I noticed they did not even list the 289 motor.
I have found other resources as well that did not even list that motor.
