^^ Very nice looking '59 Edsel there, the teeth on the cruiser skirts are a nice touch.

^^ If you told me you were building a custom '55 Chevy hardtop with cruiser skirts, a sun visor, continental kit, and '56 Ford side trim, and leaving the hood ornament on, I'd tell you that'd look awful. But there it is, and it actually looks pretty good. I like it, VERY unexpected.

Flathead - I'll get it finished one of these days - as soon as the roadster is finished.

  11. I agree, Squablow. I also like the way the front fenders were modified, headlight brow with Olds bezels and removing the ribs down the sides. I like it too!

Huh!? You must be looking at a different picture than me, the one I see looks pretty damn good!

  14. one word..... CONTINENTAL KIT... i cant stand those things, otherwise a very, very, nice 55'

i have a mild kustom in the works. it involves an early 60's paint job of some sort (haven't decided on one yet) drawer knob grille, medium whites, 3'' lowering, yards of tuck n' roll and smithy's!

That is actually one of the better looking cars in this thread! And that's really saying something. I'm also surprised how much I like it.

To each his own, but the continental kit, visor, skirts, and most of all, the Ford trim, ruins it for me.

Personally I think this car is bitchin! I think the only thing I would change is to throw a nice set of classy hubcaps on it!

That car really threw me. At first I thought it was a '56 Ford with a bunch of '55 Chev details. I noticed more and more Chev stuff, but it wasn't until I looked at the top that I realized it actually WAS a Chevy.

I'm not a continental kit-and-skirts guy, I'm not a tri-five guy, and I don't care for '56 Fairlane side trim, but I think the car is really well integrated and crafted. Nice work, somebody!

Couldn't agree more Tony, I love it. Even the visor fits in and I HATE VISORS.

Maybe the fact that I'm a tri-five guy is why I don't like it then. Also, my idea of a mild custom is to take away some of the luxury chrome details. Not keep them and on top of that add more of that kind of stuff. Again, that's just my personal opinion though.

I like the effect that "Eyelids" have on cars (the above 54 pontiac) I'd like to see more cars with custom eyelids or droopy eyes - I want to do something like that to my 53 ply.

My theory about what's mild or full custom has more to do with the intent of the builder - are you trying to improve the original look or is this something out of your imagination? The first is mild - the second is full custom!

  28. Exactly what he said. VERY pretty car!
