Sorry if this is a repost .................................... "Big" IS one of the true hero`s of the sport and having read his books Pat was a great wife ,friend and many times nurse. Not many would put up with all that , these days! http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/story/24620379/2014/02/03/pat-garlits-wife-of-racing-legend-dies Lets take a moment in condolence for the loss ................................................. Dear Friends, My dear wife of nearly 61 years left this world and went over to the other side at 5:53 PM, this afternoon. She has been suffering a lot these last few... days and it was a Blessing to see God take her into His care. I will miss her very badly, but will be with her sooner than I realize, as time is very different here that over there. She passed at home with her two Daughters at her side and me holding her hand and a little Yorkie dog on each side of her. She went without making a sound and this house is going to be very quiet for a while. I had "Glenn Miller" playing in the background, as that was her favorite "Big Band". I will let everyone know what the Arrangements will be when I know myself. Thanks for all the Prayers and support through this terrible ordeal. Sincerely, Don Garlits CEO Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing Inc. 13700 SW 16th Ave. Ocala, FL 34473
Very sorry to hear the news. Last time we were at the museum, Pat showed us around. It was great. A very sweet person. All our prayers to Big Daddy and the rest of the family. God Speed!
To Don and all your family, I am so sorry to hear that your partner through life has died. I had the privilege of visiting your museum in Ocala just before Xmas and was astounded to see so much of your life's work as well as so many truly significant cars from drag racing and other realms of racing. I wish you the very best at this tough time and have a prayer in my heart for Pat, you and your family. Take care.
Don, my prayers go out to you and your family. I'm so sorry for your loss. She is waitng for you in heaven. No more pain or suffering. I lost my wife several years ago, so I have some sense of what your going through. May the Lord console you and comfort you.
May God keep and hold you and your family in this darkest time. Many here love you and share your grief.
To the Garllits family, Im sorry for your loss. As they say behind every good man there is a great woman. The stories I have read, Pat was just that and more. I have never had the honor to meet Big Daddy or Pat, but im sure my father has crossed paths with them at one time or another. As a very young lad I can remember going to "Smoking" US 30 dragstrip. My parents only lived 10min. from the track. We would load up in dad's wrecker and go spend Sunday at the strip. He would tow for the track. I remember one of dad's stories about Shirley Moldowney, offering up the shop for her crew to work on her car. They got the problem fixed at the track, so they didn't need to utilize the shop. That would have been awesome if they would have. RIP Pat, you will truly be missed. The Austin family NW Indiana Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
