  2. Love it. Had one back in the day, blue where your's is green, column 3 spd. Put a '57 engine in it and it was pretty quick. First car I raced at a real drag strip.

Here is a better shot of it outside, still needing alignment. Good think I opted for new tires cause the L78's will NOT come off the back with it lowered. Going to have to take the blocks off to get the tires off. That would have been fun on the road! Hopefully the new narrower shorter tires will be easier to change out.

Cars looking great. I ended up getting some longer shocks in the back of mine so the rear end drops down further when jacked up from the frame to get the tires on/off. I don't have to worry about it now though with the 1/4's radiused. I had a rear end that was a inch narrower and 235/60 15 on a 7" wheel and no problems getting them on and off. But that was without lowering blocks also.

  12. I unbolt the shock from the lower mount before I jack the car up this allows the rear end to drop a little further. I still can barley squeeze the tire in.

Very nice Chieftain hardtop. I own 3 of these cars and those full disc hubcaps like to slide on the rim when braking hard and pinch the valve stem. I finally put dog dishes on with beauty rims and wide whites.

I put a bar in the shackle and pull down so it arches the spring fully and am able to wiggle my 275/60r15 out, I have g78 wide whites and there a breeze to remove with this method but I have rolled the inside lip so it's rounded.

I've heard that putting a strip of ductape along the surface where the teeth grab onto the wheel will prevent any movement and wont let the cap fly off.

May be worth a try if you're concerned about it.

  21. there's all kinda tips and tricks to solving that. its a pretty widespread problem, a quick search on the net will give you hundreds of different tips and tricks for it

Here is some new additions. the original air cleaner bottom was finished at the chrome shop today, so we did a test fit with the striped by Chaddilac lid and the new finned covers. Big improvement! While messing with that stuff, noticed that the water pump was leaking, so yet another setback:(

Also got the new tires on the car. Stance looks great, need to align it and trim the new rear bump stops for max travel and the big part will be done!

    Ditto on that.
Sometimes you even have to let the air out of the tire. :D
