Similar story here, I was high bidder on a 40 sedan but didn't meet reserve. I called the owner trying to make deal but we couldn't get together, still $1000 apart. Finally I mentioned I probably shouldn't buy it cuz I was trying to sell my 69 Elcamino 1st. The seller told me his 1st car was a 68 Elky, we made a deal swapping my Elky and some cash for his Ford. If I hadn't mentioned the Elky the deal wouldn't have happened.

I had a lemon yellow '40 coupe as a kid and had to sell it when I went into the Army in 1969. I said for 40 years I wanted another '40 coupe. Bought this one about 5 years ago, then that same fall bought the matching truck. I tell people I'm just reliving my youth.

I know how you feel, we picked up our 40 April last year from Tucson Az, cruised in it for the rest of last year before shipping it back home, like yours running a Flathead and 4. Speed, all I can say is enjoy enjoy. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1390938776.910562.jpg

That's a sweet car. Drive and enjoy it! It took me about 30 years to have a drivable '40 Coupe from the time I wanted one.

    Beautiful car congrats!!

  14. I'm jealous! Much better than my first '40 Coupe (it was a parts car that ended up as rip-rap 34 years ago), but at least I still have my first '40 Tudor (in just about as good of shape as my first coupe now, though). Now if someone would trade for my OT ElCamino or a '55 Victoria project...oh, hell, who am I kidding?

  22. Nice car! Hope you didn't have to mortgage the house to make it happen.
Nice that it's a done hot rod and you don't have to make it right.

Good for you...I got close in the '60s with a '40 deluxe sedan, but it still wasn't a coupe ( though in those days I did use the back seat!!)
