I am just getting back on this project after a couple of years. This is where I left off...

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=689457&highlight=boudakian

As you may remember, the old Fordor was raced by the Boudakian Brothers in the late 50's...

The car had been rear-ended at some point and needed rear frame horns replaced.

I thought I could weld on some horns without pulling the body. When I dug into it, I found the frame damage was worse than expected and that the body was going to need to come off. That took the wind out of my sail and the project was pushed into the corner.

The right rear rail actually needed to be cut off and replaced ahead of the crossmember and the crossmember needed to be replaced as well. I figured the best way to do this would be to build a frame jig. I borrowed a friends "good" original frame and started building. The borrowed frame appeared to be nice and straight, but as I started pulling center lines and measuring, it needed a little tweaking itself. After I straightened the so-called "good" frame, I came up with this.

With the frame jig built, I pushed the car out of the corner yesterday.

and within an hour or so, I had the body loose...

I had picked up some cut off 32 rails, so I threw together a body cart...

Here's the body off and ready to tear the chassis apart.

It came apart pretty quickly as well...

And we were able to get the frame squared up in the jig and ready to start on the repairs..

    Here's the ugly part...

Now it's time for the real work to begin.

Yes, they are brass tag, original paint 903 J's...and as cool as it looks without fenders, they are going back on. If I didn't have pics of it as a full-fendered hot rod in the 50's, it might be a different story.

In the last couple years I've really taken a liking to 32-34 four doors... seen some really nice examples lately. This is gonna be cool!

Gotta believe this one is in good hands. If anyone hasn't seen Neil's work do yourself a favor and search some of his previous builds.
OH! Larry, they don't all have to lose the fenders:eek::rolleyes::cool::D

Are the 903 J's with the brass tags something special? I just picked up a pair locally that are going on my tub, didn't think much of it. I just like the size.

Neal, your RPU build thread is one of my favorites on here. I can't wait to see this one come together.

Cut the damaged rail off and drilled the crossmember out of the other rail...

Got the new pieces of rail tacked in place...

And mocked up the rear crossmember.

It's a late (narrow) crossmember, so I need to make some reinforcing plates to go in the kickup to take up the width. This is probably a good idea anyway, since the rails are spliced there.

That's it for this weekend, and I sure am glad I built the frame jig. It is making easy work of fixing this frame.
