Thanks Kevan, The Sedan I bought was a light to medium green and its a pretty nice color. Just getting ready to cut the two apart to make the coupe come back to life. I was going to give you a call this week to catch up and ask a couple of questions.
Kevan, I have a 41 packard coupe that I'm doing and after seeing your work I am giving thought to cutting mine. I'm nervous that because the top is so bulbous it will not look right. The way you got rid of the high forehead is cool but the packard also has high tempals down the sides and a more pronounced hump above the rear windshield. I want a more sleek look like you have made with the Fourties. My thinking is I may have to replace the whole roof?
After looking at a few pictures of the 41 Packard coupes I don't think you'll have a problem with a bulbous top. Those cars have such a long body that you don't need to do a radical chop to make it look good. Maybe 3" at the most I would think. The only area that will need total reworking is the back window, sail panels, and about 20 inches above the back window. You might should have someone do a good photoshopped image or two before you start. Good luck!
Sorry, that comment was aimed at 1940Merc, his avatar of the red '40 Merc convert was shot at the Pueblo NSRA event...obviously his name and yours must be Kevin...!!! R-
Hey Kevan: When you get sick and tired of those two Mercs, let me know - as I have a really clean one that I'd like the same treatment done to! I'm not in a hurry, but let me know if you're still interested in doing more . . . as mine is in Columbus, OH - quite a ways away! Dale
Kevan, how are you making out with the sail panels? Since you are almost chopping every Merc in your style, you should be close to getting them very close fitment wise on the first try. Seems it could be something you could mass produce at a future time frame.
Cool stuff amigo!!! Soon you're probably chop these Mercs with closed eyes ,by memory,ah,ah,ah Considering the great amount of experience you're achieving Keep it up,waiting my turn
No secret Frankie. 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" is what needs to be removed. Some people remove as much as 2", but I think that's too much.
Thank you sir....I've been thinking about this on my d-24....all the 41-48 chrysler products have a pronounced forehead, maybe a five or sixhead...lol.
