Got the t5 out of a 96 s-10 with a 4.3 today and want to know if it will work behind a Chevy ii banger. Im so confused as to what will and what won't work
That's not a T5. GM did not put the T5 behind the 4.3l V6 in any S10. You have a NV3500. You will note, it has an integrated bell housing. All T5's have removable bellhousings. That said, the Chevy II 153 and 4.3l V6 have the same bellhousing pattern and depth. It will bolt up, and you can use it, but you'd have to use a hydraulic clutch setup.
Gimpy is 100% correct.. nv3500 was used behind the 4.3 There is a big difference in the two apperance . The t 5 has a removable bellhousing were the nv 3500 does not. And earlier s10, s had a t 50.....
Since it will bolt up, why not use what you have? It is the NV3500 as stated, but it has plenty strength for your Chevy II engine. BTW, it is also elec speedo
It is a perfectly good transmission. The only issue is the lack of a mechanical speedometer drive. If you can work around that. Just use it.
Well I have one of each now if faced with the choice which way should I go I have to get a bellhousing for the t5 but have to spend no cash on the 3500 Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
