History Anybody got good shots of their Dad's old cars?

My dad was not into neat cars, however I did wind up with one of his old cars ehrn I was in high school. He had a 53 98 Holiday coupe (Oldsmobile). I took the engine and transmission out, overhauled the 303 engine, added a J-2 carb setup, and put this into a 50 Ford 2 door sedan. This was in 66-67. Now I wish I had the whole car back in one piece. Oh well that is in the past now

 

Here is a pic of the 66Corvette that my dad gave me before Cancer got him. He bought it in 76. 327 4speed. My son and I sitting in it and my amigo and I getting the motor started after sitting for around 25 years. It needs a few things hopefully we can start working on it in the spring.

Ya, My favorite picture too.

 

He drove it Well into the 90's. remains the coolest car he's owned. I can still feel the green vinyl seats burning my 6 year old legs in the summer.

 

rustytruck: Thanks for the reply and link. I honestly had not seen your excellent story thread on the car. I was just going by the intake,carb,and ,v-covers. To bad what became of it; but I guess you wouldn't be here, if not for the mishap. That thing just fits its time period like a hand in a glove! Too cool.

I lost my dad this month so I just happen to have several pictures of his cars handy.

This was his first car, a 50 Ford.






This is my mom and dad. This car is still at the farm but totally rusted out.

Here are a few of my Dad's which I've posted on another thread before.
My folks in front of a channeled Model A coupe that my dad and Uncle built. They bought a complete coupe for $45, pulled the body and sold the remainder for $45. Channeled it over a 32 frame with a flathead. The second is his 50 Ford coupe, the flathead was tired, he seen an add in the paper for a Chevy V-8, turned out to be a 348, bought it and put that in it. He said boy that thing was a runner. The third was his 35 Chevy Standard coupe. Has a 322 Nailhead, Lasalle Trans and olds rear. It 's my sister, Dad and myself in that picture circa 1963. Someone came by one night and offered what was a lot of money at the time for it, so with a young family he sold it. That was in Gibralter Michigan, never seen it again.

 

What's going on here, kerosene or oil bath or?

 

Just about 50 years ago my father ordered a new 1964 Riviera. I think that the only option on it was front and rear seat belts (fronts might have been standard). As I recall, dealers only had loaded ones in stock at the time. However, it came standard with the 425 c.i. engine, 4 bbl carb, Super Turbine auto trans, AM radio and lots of little gadgets so it wasn't really a strippo car. It was delivered in April. Here's a photo of it, Dad and me (age 11) at Thanksgiving 1964 at a guest ranch in California.

The color was Tawny Mist (metallic tan) with a similar-colored interior. Just before he ordered it he asked me to recommend a color. I looked at the brochure and said "Tawny Mist," not realizing that the name for the color I intended was Marlin Blue (metallic silvery blue). At the time I didn't know what tawny meant -- I thought it just one of those funny names for colors. So, I was disappointed with the bland color when he brought it home in April. Still, it was a cool car except that without air conditioning my sister and I really suffered, along with my folks, on summer cross-country trips from Los Angeles to the midwest to visit relatives. He kept it until 1971 when he received a company car. I had an economy car to go to college in -- there wasn't the slightest chance that I would get the powerful, thirsty Riviera as a teen.

My Dads first new Lincoln in 1956 .. 56 Lincoln Premier Convert

 

All my life I was told that my dads first car was a 39 Mercury. I was shocked when I was digging thru family pictures and found out that it was a 41. I bet he was even more shocked when I bought my first car and it is a 1947 Mercury 4 dr almost the same as his first car

Dads wedding day 1957... I posted this before hoping to figure out what the car is... Somebody said it might be a 56 merc, and I thank them. Was said he had a deuce coupe with a mean flatty, but I don't know how much stock I put in that, and didn't everybody? Interesting part is he was born in 39, and I was in 88!!
