    From Wikipedia:

Laika died within hours after launch from overheating,[2] possibly caused by a failure of the central R-7 sustainer to separate from the payload.[3] The true cause and time of her death were not made public until 2002; instead, it was widely reported that she died when her oxygen ran out on day six,[4] or as the Soviet government initially claimed, she was euthanised prior to oxygen depletion.

    Farewell Mr. Seeger,

I met Pete Seeger twice and found him to be a wonderful man. I am saddened to hear of his passing.

Or you could simply zoom out using the drop down menu under "View" on your menu bar.:)

Yes, you could, you could also hold control +/- to zoom in/out, but wouldn't it make more sense to maintain a uniform size so the viewer doesn't have to keep zooming?

  26. This picture was taken at Coney Island in 1908. Jolly Trixy (Emma Hendrickson) was my 1st Cousin 2 times removed. At the age of 20 she was billed as the largest (fattest) woman in the world at 685 pounds. She toured with the Chas. M. Abrahams Greater Platform Shows (circus). She died in 1928 at the age of 46, remarkable that she lived that long given her size.
Thanks for posting axe grinder, I have quite a few pictures & articles about her but this one I had never seen before.

  27. I don't remember ever seeing this on this thread before. The first drive-in gas station.

The Maserati looks out of place next to the sleek aerodynamic Mercedes GP cars they were competing against. Really cool picture.

Looking at the other open wheeled cars in the line-up, I'd say the Mercedes looks to be out of place.
