Thanks dudes, I appreciate the love! Tintop, you are right about the younger generation. Thanks to modern technology, I have access to endless examples of top notch work. If I see something I want to learn, I can send emails, ask questions, order DVD's and books. Putting the rubber to the road is a little more tricky, lots of hours spent experimenting and learning. I'm fortunate to have so much knowledge at my finger tips.

 

Damn that Hallock just looks so damn good with that stance. Good score man!

 

Very cool Hallock. Nice clean up job. How are you going to secure it to the body?

 

It will be bolted through the top of the cowl (tank) as well as at the posts.
Steve suggested I use boned washers to keep water out of the cockpit.

Not only are you a talented fabricator. You also have a great eye for proportion and stance. Keep it up!

You are a true artist with the metal. Thanks for sharing how to do it. I learned from you about using the two templates and making the transmission floorboard cover. Can't wait to see it done.

 

Thanks guys! If I was to start over there are so many things I would change. I have learned so much just getting the car this far. I had done tons of auto fab work before this, but this is my first ground up build. I can't wait to apply what i've learned to the next project.

 

Still working on that damn firewall. I'm guessing I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-70 hours in it already. Even though I used the stock firewall as my template, it still turned out a little fat on one side. Dont ask me how that happened. Trimming the fat...



I decided that the firewall was just too plain so I added a few bead rolls, matching the interior theme. Then I spent a few more hours filling holes and finishing off the flanges...

Got the valve covers cleaned up a bit...


I started working on a solution to the wishbone connection being blocked by the body. I'm going to make a bracket that works as structure for the toe boards, as well as a mounting point to make the bottom of the cowl removable.

 

Unfortunately, progress is going to cease for awhile. We are selling our house and wont be buying our new place for several months. At least I got the three dueces on there before she heads to storage! Big thanks to Charlie Price's Vintage Speed. Here are the last shots for a few months...

 

I was just checking out your tech thread, and followed the link to your build. All I have to say is, wow... Your roadster looks perfect!

Looking real good...

 

My wife and I finally bought a home up in the Oakland hills in mid July. Its a bit of a fixer upper so I've been pretty consumed with renovation/remodeling BS. True to my roots I worked on the garage first; epoxy floors from Legacy industrial, painted and ran some 220 for the compressor and welder. Hopefully this winter I will have the house far along enough that I can escape to my cave...
