I'd like to know what under the hood. That fat, single pipe says 4bt to me.

It took over 5 1/2 years to go from two '47 cabs to this on a 1976 3/4 frame[IMG][IMG]

The one at Viva. Low, dark, Dodge PU rear fenders drooping down on 40s IHC bed. Built in Central CA at my house. Finished it about 8 years ago and drove it to work. Sold it to Jaime B. He sold it to present owner. Oh, and Jaime B. made 4k on me. Never again!
Put it on 87 Mazda B pickup chassis. Still has Mazda B 4 cylinder and electrics.

Why didn't you use a Dodge carryall rear quarter and Dodge fenders on the rear?

When I built this truck, I'd never seen a carryall ; I had two cabs to work with and a 3/4 ton frame. It's got a 12 foot wheel base and is only 16 feet long; that placed the rear wheels all the way to the rear, so I fabricated some fenders that would work with the wide tires. The first time I took it to Goodguys in Del Mar I saw a Carryall , if I'd seen one when I was building this , all the windows in this thing would have rolled down !!

I've got a 39 dodge p.u. Its a pretty decent original. I'd like to drop her down a bit. I'm think of flipping the rear, and removing about 3 leafs from the front. How much will pulling leafs drop it?

Here is my 1947 Dodge WF-32 1.5-ton flatbed. It's spent its entire life on the farm (wife's family) and has racked-up 21,000 miles.

My plan is far from finalized, but step #1 is to just get it running and driving again. After that, I'm leaning towards making it a "giant" pick-up truck (stock appearance) by adapting a bed from the smaller WD-21 3/4-ton or 1-ton model of the same '39-'47 vintage -- but, that will take some sheetmetal fab work to lengthen it, since the wheelbase on my WF-32 is a couple feet longer. This bed modifcation would probably be done with Flop's help.

Otherwise, maybe a car-hauler? ...but I was hoping to retain the stock driveline, with maybe some vintage speed equipment (I've seen dual-carb intakes/etc.)...and the stock driveline might struggle as a car-hauler, so -- we'll see...

I keep thinking I wont post on this old of a post, but it keeps coming back to me. I've been tinkering with my backyard lawn ornament.
