I always wondered what one would look like.

I stumbled across this looking for something entirely different.

I have to admit, it's not as sleek as a Chevy.

But, still cool.

Hey Ford did build one proto type for design development in this fastback style, but givin all that was going on at Ford during the lanch of the "49 Schewbaux it's no wonder this didn't make the cut.

A picture of the prototype shows up in " Collectable Automobile '' magazine last year, with the feature of ''The Automobiles of Fourty-Nine ''

Awkward transition to the trunk. Done right it would be interesting.

 

Me too - that's the first thing that crossed my mind . It looks like they re-planted the roof from a 444/544 Volvo onto a Shoebox . It's interesting ...

That's probably why they're rare!

I love the fastback shoebox look, but agree the trunk transition would need to flow better.
I always thought the Volvo looked more like the earlier Fords of post WWII.
