Projects Identification of my engine - 239 Flathead

It is about the identification of my engine - I have taken some pictures where you can see letters [EB] and numbers printed on the engine [4L50], it is a 239 Ford Flathead - year and country? I'm not sure, but I think it's from 1940-42 ^ ^ engine number * 2116642 * G ---- and perhaps from Germany

^ ^ 1 more thing can I fit a C4 gearbox on the engine?

It could be german , but the boss at the left side looks different
C4, yes , from flat-o-products.

 

Could possibly be one of those French flatheads that the French military used up until the 90's. Just a thought.

 

The eb probably stands for "Eisenwerke Brühl", a German foundry that is still in business that used to cast blocks for German fords.

I'm guessing a little here, but the German flathead I used to have had the rear mounted distributor. As that one would appear to be German, but has no provision for the rear mounted distributor, It must be an earlier version.

I think you can "mount a distribuator in the rear end" on this engine - see picture

Ah, yes, I see it now, I didn't realise that other boss was there. I needed to see the zoomed out pic! That oil pressure tapping at 45 degrees doesn't look familiar to me, which is where we started I think.
