This is the other 1/48th series truck that Revell offered in the late 50's. This one was a repop from a number of years ago.
I started by cutting the Y block engine from the frame assy. and building a 427 OHC motor. A 9" differential was built along with a complete exhaust system.
A wood buck was made to form the windshield as they didn't supply any with the kit. Side and rear windows were also added. The kit wheels/tires were very basic so starting with them I machined out the centers, widened the rears and fabricated Cragars for the wheels. The wheels were shot with Alclad Chrome and the body trim was done with Bare Metal foil.

All good stuff again this week. Those dragsters are bitchin, man. I've been to thousands of circle track races and never seen a drag race but love those cars.

One of my four entries at the 2014 Grand National Roadster Show model car contest today received an award: third place in the Competition category.

It's a '53 Stude lakes racer. The engine is a set back Hemi with a crank-driven blower.

You can see pix of some of the other contest entries in my album:
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=43152
    but they don't have captions.

I've posted the pix with captions in my H.A.M.B. Plastic Model Builders thread but you need to be join (free!) that social group to see 'em:
