I'm currently working on my 1950 Buick special. We're in the process of making it a mild custom. I was wondering if anyone else has a 50 or pics of 50's that are mild customs.
    Thanks!

This is what we're starting with. French the head lights. Shaved the rear door handles. I'm gonna silver metal flake the roof. French the tail lights. I've put on single bar flipper caps. It's def a work in progress.

All I can say on a four door is don't go overboard on the mods and keep them all tasteful and coordinated with each other. When you can park yours next to a real nice stone stock one and it makes the stone stock one look overdone and a bit gaudy in comparison you know you got it right.

I was in the same boat with my rockers, pretty bad but relatively easy fix. I've had my 50 for going on ten years. Love driving it. Hopefully plans for chopping it will be in the works next year.

My only advice is shave all four door handles, or don't shave any.

A 4 four door with just the rear handles shaved looks like the owner is desperate for a two door. Be proud of what you got. All or nothing.

    I love these old buicks.

That is the plan, long term once I can get either door poppers or push bottons for the front doors. I know to many guys that shaved all 4 doors before installing one of these two and ended up busting glass to get back in the cars. So long story short that's the plan.

Here is my old 50 Super just after we squirt it with DP 90 then fizz can the flames on. I had drop a 428 Pontiac with a TH400 and a Ford 9 it ran like a raped ape. one little unnoticed item that I did to it was to put 1958 Chevy back up lens in the front turn signals and the back up lights. All you have to do is hand drill the holes out so they will fit the Buick retaining screws

I think I got the skirts at the swap meet it has been a while the photo I posted was from 1998. I sold it a few years back to a friend and now I hear it is in the Netherlands. This photo is from the first HotRod-a-rama in Tacoma Wash. 2003
