Wondering if any of the old-timers who visit here might have a photo or two of Buffalo, NY area Dodge dealer Speedy Greco or his cars, which often raced at Holland and Lancaster, near Buffalo, NY? Speedy was a good friend of Art Clark as well.

    Thanks!

Your right, there's nothing like a full bodied stock car on dirt. I grew up a car /engine builders son ( Vern Ladendorf ) built and owned cars from 68 - 75. I used to love going to Springfield and Du Quoin. Still have the tool box our #71 torino ran over backwards during quals at I believe Springfield. Coming out of turn 4 Rich Oertel was having a lap like no tomorrow. Possible top 15 and maybe top 10, when oopp's he got past yaw and that's all she wrote. Started spinning and for those of you that remember there is no pit wall. Just openings every 40 feet or so. Well it just so happens he picked the opening we had all our stuff stored at. Came in backwards, the left door hit the wall edge and proceded to the fuel cans and my Dad. Well big ole Vern ran and when the car hit the fuel cans he thought he was a goner. No fire thank god, but after the cans came the Craftsman tool box ( top half ) went right over it backwards. Left a perfect indentation of the drive shaft. Took the door skin off went back out a little later and the drive shaft snapped on the backstretch. It's the only thing we didn't check. That's what I have to share with all you fine folks. I will be posting pics later, just joined yesterday.... what a forum!!!! Good times

I worked for you dad when he has his USAC Ford and was there when Rich went thru the wall and smashed up Bobby Wawak's stuff. Bobby helped put the car back together and when Rich went out to try again, the crowd got real happy but the drive shaft was bent and came out of the car on the back straight. That's when Bobby and your dad got together and the rest is history. Built a 71 Torino what was almost unbeatable at Illiana the next year and Bobby was the track Champion. RIP my friends, Chuck Stark

Bob May wins the Tri-State 150 at Heidelberg. Are they looking for a light?

That's right and also Grandview Bowl in Nanaimo, B.C. with all the early Ford stock cars. Grew up living almost next door to that place. Western is still running in it's 59th year. These are all paved tracks and notice how nice the cars are painted and how everyone is dressed. The only race track in Canada to have it's own Hall of Fame, www.westernspeedway.net. This post is in response to #5932-#5950 Some great drivers and racing came out of these 2 tracks. Western is a 4/10 paved running 10 classes starting in May. Yup we're on an Island:D
