Looks like it works like a tractor fuel gauge.

Excellent progress. I'll be looking forward to seeing this one in the flesh. Plenty of time to get it finished for Sins of Steel.

Tomorrow my windshield will be back from the glass shop so I will be able to finally put the dash back in. Also got a original lower grill apron to mess with to finish off the bottom of the shell and help hide the radiator bottom.

Put the glass in the windshield and mounted it up today. The gap between the two turned out bigger than an 1/8 but it is straight so I'm happy. Put the dash back in too and mounted some of the little things like the rod for the choke, coil, and junction box. Also finished up all the floor metal work. Going to home depot tomorrow to get some nice wood for the floorboards.

Very nicely done. Sorry if I missed it but how much did you end up taking out of the back panel?

Thanks, 2.5 inches. I was told to go 2 but it still looked too wide. I have a factory drawing of the specs and 2.5 inches got me real close. Hard to measure because nothing is straight.

There is a h-rubber strip sold by Snyder's and other T parts sources that fills that gap in between the windshields. Comes in handy in the rain.

Looks great. I got a 27 that I am doing very similar. Gotta ask. What did you use for paint? And a brush? Looking good.

Right now the paint is rustoleum primer. Final finish will be black using a natural bristle brush.

So I mentioned in an earlier post that I had picked up an original grill shell apron and I now have it. It needs to be modified a bit to cover the lower tank of the A radiator. I hate to cut this nice of an original part up. Guy said it was in good shape but man! Looks to have been nickel plated. It is not perfect but close to it. Oh well, guess the purists are going to be mad...

  21. I have no idea how I missed this...too much work & not enough play goin' on around here.

Totally loving this gow-job! I'm doing nearly the same thing with my 27 RPU...will also be running a 26-27 nickel radiator shell over an A radiator, but need to figure out how to plumb the water outlet to the upper tank...

Would you mind snapping a couple pictures of the engine side of the radiator and the water outlet/upper tank area?

Thanks! Yeah the upper water neck needs to be modified to use the A radiator. I am going to modify the neck that bolts to the engine. I will take some pics for you. I also love your build, that pickup you got is going to be killer!

Today my buddy Aaron showed up with a present. It's a 24 T oval has tank from his touring project. It had a loose baffle and was dented real deep on the top. I cut an access hole in the top and fixed the baffles and the majority of the dents. Now prep and weld the hole back up. Thanks Aaron! ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1389922925.018273.jpg

Thanks bugs! I still have not seen another one and I have been looking. The tank was the last thing I really needed to get this thing going so hopefully in the next few weeks I will have a running car.

Gas tank is all back together. It has bumps and bruises but it's a nice solid tank. My buddy Aaron is also dropping something off tomorrow that is going really set this car off. Pics to come. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1390091558.139199.jpg

This is what my buddy Aaron dropped off today. A complete set of '24 touring top irons plus another driver side. After studying some roadsters it appears that I should be able to make a complete roadster top.

I am going to start on this next. Being that I live in Michigan, it would be nice to have a top. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1390173521.805313.jpg

Quick sketch I did. Might go a little lower in the back. I don't know. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1390174681.796834.jpg
