If anyone needs detail pics, let me know. I just picked up a very complete 29 sport coupe that was with the previous owner since the early 40s. :D

Will do, but right now it's stripped down. Rear axle is hanging down, both front and rear springs out getting the eyes reversed. Front axle is being replaced by a 34 to lower it an inch and a half.

I have spent this last month working on the rear brakes and replacing the axle shafts.

Here's mine I picked up this past summer. Amazingly straight and rust-free. It had been parked in a garage since 1958. I was told that the wooden bed was built by a local wagon builder back in the day and was used to haul milk cans on the family farm.

Your car is amazing. So amazing and rare I wish you would reconsider rodding it. Gary

Gary, i'm not going to rod it. Not sure if I wanna keep the wooden bed or go back to original rumble/trunk lid.

Glad to hear that... but to me the entire "value" of your car IS in that bed. I'm sure some museum or A collector would jump at the chance to own it. Gary

Vin-Tin, that is what makes your car(truck) different, if you take it off it is like all the other model A. Hey, that could be the first ranchero.

Brakes are done and now I am converting the rumble seat to a more useful trunk. Seems simple so far, had to pick up a couple of new panels that hold the latch and replace the trunk floor pan because the old one had been cut out and re-welded poorly. Looks like he had to replace the u-bolts for the rear spring.

My old '29 with a '27 style tail. Very cool car with lots of detail. No idea of who owns it now. I'd love to see pics of it finished.

That looks very good. Any pix of the car before you sold it? Gary

  21. I'm trying to piece mine back together, door tops cut off, so will end up a coupster. Could someone give me a width dimension between B pillars at the door latch? I've pretty much got the trunk opening square, but could use that dimen to finish things up.
    Thanks,
    RB

Nah...... I build three or four a year and never actually get one to drive myself. This one was damn near finished when it went. There was a ton of cool stuff on it, but alas, I seldom take pictures of my work.

Heres a shot of my old sport coupe / roadster with room. Built it out of old hot rod parts and drove the wheels off of it all over the PNW as my daily driver for about 5 years. Ran it at the drags too. Fun car! My son spent the first five years of his life in it and wants to clone it now

Dang, sounds like you barely get them rolling before they go!

Lately I've been thinking of doing Cabriolet style (ie hardtop) windows on my 5W - think Cabster versus coupster. That way I could have two tops, a removeable hard top and a Biminy style soft top that would work with the hardtop windows. Ever do that? Gary

My early '29 Business Coupe (no window) the day I got it, and a few weeks ago. Almost ready for a springtime ride. Hope to have the top material on it before then, but if not.... Whatever. It's getting the wheels rode off of it this summer.

Clutch says he's ready to ride.... ;)
