If I have to explain it, you're not going to understand.

I just changed my avatar this morning. I started this thread with the idea of getting the lowdown on all the images that show up here on the HAMB. The fact that folks seldom have a comment on the origin leaves room for some interesting stories.
My latest avatar has a cool story. It is a scan from the Dec, 59 Rod and Custom little pages (page 62). It is an original Roth Weerdo T-shirt ad, I happen to be a big fan of Ed.
I have had in my possesion for a few weeks now a collection of musty, yet mostly pristine little pages. They are on loan from a very nice gentlemen who knew I might be interested in his collection, which he bought originally in the 50's and 60's. In fact he has an enormous collection of magazines from back in the day. He has always dreamed of owning a hot rod, but the closest he has ever gotten is the magazines.
His generous offer to loan them to me has been a real thrill for me and it will be repaid with a few cruises in my coupe for him.

Just a pic of me with my best girl. Shortly after this was taken, we pressed some wild flowers...

Hey Falcongeorge, did you press them flowers between BRAWNY paper towels?
    Is that Lurch Kerry?

As for my avatar, I like changing mine regularly, like my shorts. The Bite by Bruce is a rare decal of mine. West Coast rodders might remember it from a time (50s -60s) when only a few manufacturers like Inglewood,& Hurst, were making cheater slicks. M&H was just emerging. Bruce Tires was up in San Jose. I forgot CASLER!

It's a photo of a 1927 Buick Radiator Cap.... being a Buick fan I thought it was a decent avatar.

I've changed mine since post #432.
Its the same White Goose bar roadster, #369, in the lights at El Mirage(May 2013). Speed is a new F/BGR record of 201, fire in the pipe and the parachute about to catch air.

  27. Picture is current project. However the text is old. I was using a pic of a '33 cabrio driven by otis in Andy Griffeth's show. Tim
