I decided to run only the top portion of a hood on my '32 3W coupe. The body and hood are steel, the hood is a Rootlieb (spelling?), and I'm trying to figure out a traditional solution - something that might be correct for the early to mid '60s. I searched around quite a bit but didn't find anything very useful. I've seen Dzus fastenters used. Any other clever ideas / suggestions? By the way, I don't particularly like the leather straps that connect the top hood to the frame. No offense to those who do Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
We used welding rod in the hood side loops of the tops bent to fit across 3 loops. Shaped like a horseshoe with long lugs at the open end. 2 near the back and two up front with a rightly sized bungee cord between them, holds tight, doesn't rattle and easily removed.

Two bungee cords running side to side have worked for me for over 15 years. Cheap, easy and you have to get on your knees and look up to see them.
A good friend of mine use to use a bungee cord between the two hood halves but now uses a screed door spring stretched between the two top halves. HRP
On wowcars' dads 32 chevy they made a slide pin with a cotterpin to hold it. Kind like a door or gate blot
you guys (and gals) are awesome!! Just what I needed -- but I probably need more training when using "search" to find those old threads!! Thanks again, Richard
I was lazy and hooked the bungee in the hood hinge loops. Stretched right to left one front one back. Worked.
