You should be able to use two Morse push-pull cables, and some fabricated brackets. Then it could go anywhere the cable bend radius would allow.

Made a little progress on mine. Mounted a spun aluminum tank in the bed and got the trans filled up. It's starting and moving under it's own power again. It's currently at the suspension shop to get everything in order. Looking to get another inch or so lower before we call it done.

I'm with chainsaw...looks good where it sits now, don't think you can go much lower without bagging it which done correctly would involve a lot of mods, but hey, if there's a will there's a way. BTW, did you flip the axles or remove some springs?

Yeah, I know that I may not get much more out of it but I have to try. So far I have flipped the axles. Will take a fair amount of work to get a little more, but I think it will be worth it if it can be done. I am happy with where it sits now though, so it's a win win either way.

No pictures of the suspension yet. It's just mocked up right now. Waiting on Todd at lowboy motorsports to go through it and finish it up. Will get some pics when we get it done. I did have to get a flexible lower radiator hose that I could do a 90 degree turn up with to accommodate the new axle position. Also we will have to notch the "frame" front and rear for axle travel.

Hi Dente81 98 . Do you have the stock running gear in it . ?Be carefull , the trans hangs lower than the body and will drag on the ground before the body hits the ground .

Yeah it has the stock running gear. And yes, it foes hang down. Even if I do get it any lower it still has more clearance than my past customs. Definitely something I am keeping an eye on.

I don't know how many inches I have gone so far. Hard to say with the spring sag from sitting for so many years. You got any pictures of yours?

Hey Fellas, I just landed a 1963 econoline van here in Australia.
I've read through pretty much every page on here, I'm going to need to change a few parts, most of the rubbers on the truck have perished.
Gearbox mounts, sway bar bushes etc.
I found Obsolete & Classic Auto parts in the U.S
Can't seem to find much on there
Do you guys know of anywhere that still carries econoline parts?

    It's a standard 174 and standard 3 speed.
    Cheers

I needed a truck so I picked up this SBC powered beauty. Needs minor work to make it reliable.

Yeah sweet, Macs looks good cheers!
We didn't get econolines here at all, I brought mine in from Missouri area.
Think the dude played the game a bit and told a few stories.
Said he drove it around as a daily.
Got here with keys that don't work.
Spark plugs that look like they've never been changed since 63
    corroded leads
    Clutch is gone.

Clutch is weird, goes 3/4 way softly, then the last 1/4 is real hard to push.
Once it's pushed in it lets out a huge click sound from inside the gearbox on the way out.
Also won't go into gear when the van is running.
Hopefully just needs adjusting. But doesn't sound good

Does anyone know if the starter has to come off the box to get the gearbox out? Standard 170 and 3 speed.

so, I pulled my oil bath air cleaner today to clean it up a bit and check the oil and I found that the "element" stuff is falling apart. What are my options here? I've read of people converting the original air cleaner to hold a paper element. Has any one here done this? Pictures??

Yes, it is for the 240. I forgot to mention that. So, once those spot welds are drilled and the old guts removed, how do you keep the top and bottom of the air cleaner together?

    hi Trumped:

here is what I did with my old oil bath cleaner; I just cleaned it out, found a paper element that fit and used an old Ford hubcap from eBay for the top.

    cheers, Ray
