That could be mistaken for a daily driver...........

 

Long story behind that 1941 coupe - post #4511. Belongs or belonged to Bernie Martinez who worked as a landscaper in Bakersfield. One couple he worked for owned the car - when the husband died the wife gave it to Bernie on the condsition that he leave it stock and it is as stock as a rock except for dual carbs on a super rare Burns Willys manifold. Bernie had many offers to buy the car over the years some of them telephone numbers, but he never had any intention of selling it. The car meant more to him than money. He used to take it to Famoso and I would joke with him and threaten to bring my wrenches to remove the 2-1 intake. Last time I saw him and the car I told him his intake was safe as I had managed to find one. The wheels look to have been changed from when I last saw it on stock wheels without hubcaps and bias plys. I haven't seen him for a few years so does anyone know if Bernie is still around and does he still own the coupe?

 

I want to kick my self every time I check out this thread. Wish I would have never got rid of mine...

Thanks drumyn, unbelievable save going on with that Willys! Like most I'd likely go with the later glass tilt front end, but then I'd be like all of them heh? I'll check out Ron, thinking of a set for my '39 Chevy.
