Believe it or not, my 32 Plymouth 3Window is having some work done to it...long time coming...Was discussing with my "Metal Wizard" about the dash....We should do something different !!!!! Lots of 40 Ford Dashes, Lots of 51 Ford Dashes...Am looking for examples and photos of what YOU might think looks good and would still be sorta period correct (whatever that means) ?????? Show me your thoughts !!!! As you can see, the dash that is there is MIGHTY PLAIN... The car will be channeled, no fenders, 60's era Hot Rod, 315 Hemi, Weiand Dragstar, Toploader 3 spd..... I have not started a "Build Thread"...not enough photos !!!! Looking forward to your input...Let Her Rip !!!!!!
I think you have a lot to work with with that dash.. A nice engine turned dash insert with a lot of gauges would look good or simply gauges in the holes you already have.. Just my thoughts...
Yeah that dash is a blank canvas man. Maybe trim both bottom ends, curve them upward a bit and give it some style. Maybe find a Stewart Warner panel like a 5 or 6 in a row, and shape the bottom of that dash to flow with the panel.
Hey I got some pics to upload in my alburm look there an See if u can find them Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Go to Sugar City Speed Shop and get you a Grace & Co dash insert! Grace & Co design cast just for him! ....or find something you like and cut away. I did this for my '46 Chevy Pickup....
Here's an inspirational thread that you might enjoy: "The mother of all dash/gauge threads". I've really enjoyed scrolling through that one. Here's the link: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=303543
I would buy a piece of 16ga polished s/s , engine turn it (easy to do ) cut the holes and you would have a very nice and unique panel. Here's a couple I made for two of my cars. I made a couple more for other cars, a couple for a buddy and a few I sold.
a '28 chrysler a '33 dodge first is in a '29 Ford cabriolet second will be in a '29 Ford coupe chrysler corp made some nice dashes back then. You might look at a '29 Essex, too. I have one, but have not fitted it or even got a car yet to put it in.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/291051941065?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 link to an Essex panel, not mine, it is in Australia. I think it is a thing of beauty! It would be easy to fit in a car as yours.
'36 dash mocked up on my roadster. '34 dash I put in a '31 coupe a couple years ago. I like this about as well as any dash in an A...Not as fancy as some others but they look like they were put there at the factory and, best of all, they fit with very little modification.
