Ran across this Eddie Meyer air cleaner. I was just wondering did they make something like this back in the day or is this a recent creation somebody made for fun ?
No they did not make air cleaner What you have is a What I call fantasy part A lot of them were made since the 1970s They are nice looking but Eddie meyers never made one also the fuel block to Hope this helps
Looks really cool, but can you tell us if the EM logo is cast or glued into the top? I agree with the others. Looks like a repop Thickstun with some fins machined out of the top and a EM logo glued/epoxied in.
Well, NOBODY wants any of that new crap sooo i'd be willing to take it off your hands so you can look for the real stuff...lol
It won't be long before real flathead speed parts are replaced by nothing but "fantasy" flathead speed parts and no one will know the difference. How many can you name? 1. Thickstun air cleaner with name change to Eddie Meyer. 2. Any number of fuel blocks. 3. Teardrop air cleaner with lid being large Eddie Meyer logo. 4. The list grows on and on.
Who cares if you like it run it, your car ,your money, your way. I want to enjoy my car without spending the rest of my life getting perfect original parts.
Questions like this separate poseurs from traditionalists. If you think something is 'cool' and know it is an anachronism look at yourself in the mirror and ask if you have what it takes to be honest about your goals. Those who want 'traditional' make the hard choices. Those who compromise have traditional 'looking' rides. There are no gold stars for either; just know the difference.
Repop parts are all over, just start with the most expensive cars that are on here right now being built ! Starting with the Ardun Heads going down the list LOL..........
