'30 Model A coupe with LOTS of gauges tucked into the tank face. Not really a cluster, but lots of fun to monitor when you cruise around!!:)

  13. I know this isn't a contest but this one really does it for me. Nice work Itchy! Headlight rings, can light diffuser parts, that takes vision. And it all looks like it was born in there.

I'm thinking about a ribbed/grooved/finned piece of aluminum or even plastic of a sort like the original dash in it now has... to mount inside the bezel..no luck finding anything yet...also thinking about aluminum with rivets.. As my steering wheel has rivets.here is a pic of my wheel...and you can kinda see the panel behind it..I like the look hate the big one multi gauge center..I love a 5 or 6 gauge cluster. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1389066346.320986.jpg any ideas where I can find material that looks like that's sorta.

33 Dash has Classic Gauges recessed with exhaust pipe into the original 33 insert , turn indicators and high beam light too.......29 is modified Original Instrument plate with Speedhut GPS Speedo and gauges ( Speedhut gauges are only 1.1 inches deep , so no altering the model A Fuel tank was necessary )

Not sure where you could look (metal scrap yard?) but I had a paramedic give me a surplus "baby" backboard stretcher (yeah, kinda creepy) that the base was cool ribbed aluminum that looked like your looking for. About a 1 1/2' x 3' piece I used up on several projects.
I've also gotten nice ribbed pieces out of old refrigerators but they are just trim pieces and wouldn't be big enough for what you're doing.

Yeah I'm scouring old electronics. Appliances.. Whatever may have some panel I can borrow from. I've found some perforated aluminum.. Ehh.. Maybe. I might try it out. But with the engine turn, it might be too much unless it's painted and layered over something

love the mooneye gauges!! They working out pretty good for you. I had pretty much forgotten about mooneye for gauges.
I have been looking at Stewart Warner .. these look like a nice alternative.. in the same style.

I am pretty excited about a recent purchase for the dash of my Austin Somerset Gasser build. I thought it would be cool to drop an airplane cockpit gauge in the dash (since it is going to fly!).

Anyway, I found this artificial horizon gauge and plan to install it in my cluster with similar text etc. as the digital!

From my woodie roadster.... stock VW center, Mooneyes surrounding. I did the engine turning in my shop.

The white gauge was a temporary replacement since I lost the original gauge I bought (six years earlier). I ordered a new one from Moon and found the original the day before the new one was delivered... of course. They were nice about it.
