I honestly dont remember if I was able to thank you personally for coming out to Vintage Torque Fest - we are REALLY happy you were able to make it. I did not even get a real chance to look the car over until this weekend at the Beatersville event.
    man.....
JoeKerr gets the job done right huh?
We sure would love to have you at the Iron Invasion in October.
Will you be able to make it to the Midnight Mass?
    Relix RIot?

  2. .

Thanks Jerry. I'm glad Jo was able to get the car down to Beatersville for the show. Honored to have it awarded a "Beaters Pick" also. Wish I could have made it down.

John, I had a great time at Vintage Torquefest. I spent 24 hrs on the road and several hundred on gas, even spent one night sleeping in the truck just to get there. Was totally worth it. I had a blast and met a ton of great people. Thanks for having me inside as it made all the rain bearable. I hope to make it again next year.

I'm not sure I can make the Invasion, but am definately down for Relix Riot.

Our posts are several months apart and maybe more than that but I'm sitting here telling myself that I needed to check his build thread a long time ago. What impressive work.

  5. Might be a stupid question but whats up with the tread on the rear tyres?

    By the way, amazing coupe!!!

  6. Not a stupid Q.
Firestone made'em that way for Indy Car type racing in the 40's-50's, the grove depth allowed the driver to determine when it was time for a tire change. After the Indy teams/USAC determined they were no longer safe to race on they were sold to Hot Rodders for Bonneville, Dry Lakes and Drag racing. I'm not sure but I think they had a speed rating of somewhere around 150mph.

Good meeting you at Indy last weekend.

The coupe looks and sounds great. It had a powerful sound.

Can you give me some pics or details on how you attach the removable solid grille insert?

    Thanks,
    AA6

I looked at this build thread before... But after seeing it in person at the TRJ revival I had to go back and look again today. Sweet ride! Pictures don't do it justice!! Great to meet you as well.

Incredible car. Do you have to bend the axle to correct the camber problem ?. The motor sounded really stout, wish it had gone into second gear. The new Street Rodder is out and your car is on the cover and that's the reason I just read this whole build and it was worth it !

Although this is without a doubt, one of the finest hot rods that I have saw anywhere (saw it at RJ show in Baltimore) I think the best thing about it is that Dave DRIVES the shit out of it and that is what they are for!!:D

Thanks for all the kind words guys. The cover came as a real shock. I knew it was going to be in the book, but NEVER dreamed it would make the cover.

I did start another thread about the Street Rodder article a few minutes ago. Find it here:

Awesome photo, I just wish they hadn't put "Electrical Buyer's Guide' in such large print right above the car.
