I'll just let the attached pic's do the talking. A lot can be said for the durability of a Ford transverse front spring.
I was going to be the first wise ass to say "first get out your wallet".......then I opened the thread.....LOL
Sorry... Am I the only one who doesn't get it? Or maybe I don't know what I'm looking at. Isn't the front engine driving some kind of centrigual pump?
The front Caddy is attached to the crank of the junk Ford flatty. Living in farm country I have seen a lot of "Rube Goldberg" contraptions. This one is pretty out of the box though. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
That truck was posted on a Ford truck forum a couple years back. All we could figure was that they adapted the Caddy to the truck by running it thru the flathead crank. Surprised the crank snout didn't break off the flathead!
Counterweight. Whatever they were lifting with the rear boom could have been enough to pull the front end in the air. Use whatcha got.
It all makes sense it a rough as guts kinda way ,you could put a big load on the back without lifting front wheels .
I saw that thing a few years ago, somewhere in an old logging tourist trap in western oregon. I can't imagine that the deal worked out for very long, because there was no oil pump, pan, or camshaft in the Ford. I assume the crank bearings on the FlatFord were spent in a matter of minutes. When I saw it, the Caddy appeared to still be very close to running condition.
