    That is a hitch for a very light load trailer, it's just not centered at the moment.

    Yep the Acme piece is a bolt on trailer hitch that was popular in the 40's and 50's to pull small light weight trailers. The scabbed on brackets look like a hook up to pull a piece of equipment on the farm. I'd cut that thing in two on each side and get the bumper up on the bench where I could work on it to clean the rest of the scab off.

    That is a pretty solid looking truck and what dents it has should be pretty easy to work out and smooth out.

    I'd get rid of all of those angle iron and flat bar pieces that are scabbed on it if it were me. Those braces up to the sides of the box probably mean that they hauled some pretty heavy loads in the truck on a regular basis at one time or another.

    Do you plan on a subframe clip, air bags and a 4 link rear?

    Can't wait to watch the progression.

  22. I saw one of those hitches on eBay awhile ago bid up to $150 while searching for a rear bumper.

    I took off the hitches and put it in vinegar and shall sandblast and paint it in a couple of days and put it on the shelf. you never know!!!

    It is a 4 speed indeed.

    My plan for the moment is to make it road legal and pass the technical inspection. than I get my license plate and after that I will maybe lower it but no extreme. have to be able to make it stock again.

    question;

    is this the original breather screw? after cleaning it still leaks...

    Cool on the plans, I like straight axles in old trucks. You might try replacing that bleeder, it looks like the outer part has corroded away. Good luck on your project, I am subscribed. :D

    Great little truck! I´d drive it as it is. Has it been brought to Europe lately or was it sold here new back then?

  26. Very cool truck! Love the 5-windows. I'll be following along as I'm working on a 54' 3-window 3100... Keep these updates coming!

    question;
    the rear shock mound is demolished, I ordered a new but do I have to drill the old one out?

  29. ...the broken shock stud was welded to that bracket, most likely electro-welded.
    You can cut it off and weld on the new bolt or drill a hole in the bracket for the bolt.
