Got this old all chromed 49-50 dash and installed it Monday. After 6 hours and a few bloody knuckles it was done. While I was at it I did the gauge cluster light upgrade and I can now see my speedo and gauges at night. I am getting the garnish molding chromed next.

Too bitchin'! Now that will set your car apart from the crowd.

I still kick myself for passing up an all-chromed '39 dash at a swap meet, three years ago...dude wanted $600.

That's cool! Now you can get a good idea of how you look when driving your car (but it might be like a fun-house mirror!)

Love it! Let us know what it's really like to drive with. I've heard all the nay-sayers before, but I've never heard from someone who has lived it first hand. I would love to do the same with my dash!

Have had chrome surrounds etc and when the sun bounces off those you can get a good tan. Looks awesome though. We had thought of chroming our shoebox dash and just leaving the raised centre shiney.

I have the same set-up for my 51 Merc, yet to be installed. My plan is to get a piece of carpet with covered magnets to cover it up when I drive!

    Looks great!!

Is it safe to assume that was the one that was for sale here on the HAMB ?? I saw that & thought about it , but I just went through all the effort to flake my dash stuff & all the garnish mouldings , so I passed on it . Looks GREAT though ...

That is what I was thinking also but maybe just a big towel cut to fit with magnets.

Buy some black magnetic sheet material and keep it rolled up under the seat. If the glare on the dash from the sun gets too bad you can stick the magnetic sheet on top of the dash.

Love it! Replied to your PM.

    Thanks

  26. perfect! ... so its alot better than when i was in high school and i could only afford to get the glove box triple chrome plated... i used to shine the heck out of it .... the girls used to wear alot of short skirts and if that sat in the right spot it was sure worth the 38 bucks for the plating....i might of gave my left one for that dash back then!
