Thinking of doing some trading . . . not sure of the value of a '34 Ford UTE, or if they ever made one, or is it just a common roadster pick up? All Steel. Has a SBC w/independent front end . . . anyone know a rough value? Thanks, Scott
Scott, utes were unique to Australia. Don't know if that's an original ute or something cut up to be one
I saw on for sale on Evil-bay once ..Didn't have a bolted on box, the box sides looked like sedan quarter panels..
Thanks for the quick replies . . . yea, my knowledge is they have sedan type rear 1/4's, this one looks like a RPU . . . here is another shot . . .
scott they were called coupe utes ( utilities ) originally made by ford out of a coupe 1/4s were all in one to the rear flat sides with the belt line like a 32 not as good as us one be careful some of them are fakes but they usually look wrong. only guessing about 35k to 55k aust. $.a bit rare now wood in them and lots of rust get a good 1.
scott, that's a home made one the cab must join the bed in one piece. really holden only makes the ute now that's gm ford calls them utes but the bed is separate from the cab im a bit old so really they should be called cab chassis in the late modal steel outer with a plastic liner made cheap one hit new back.
Definitely not a 34 Ute and definitely not a 34 roadster pickup, looks to be made out of a cut up sedan. Windshield is not roadster and 34's didn't have wing windows. Could possibly be made into something cool though. Mick
as previously stated ,it's home made . I don't want to be too hard on the builder ,but I would pass unless it's priced way low, sorry
Was thinking along the same lines. That looks to be a cut down 4 dr. sedan. It has a great looking grille, hood and windshield frame. If it were mine; I'd deep six the IFS Scrounge a 5/w roof and some door tops. Grab a pair of SAR quarters and deck lid and build a 5/w Coupe out of it. If it's reasonable, grab it-34's are getting tough to find. It could be the makings of a nice 34.
Personally, I'd clean it up, get it rego'ed and drive the bugger around until someone tapped me on the shoulder and asked the price. It's not a Prius so it's gotta be good. And I'm not a Ford person. Peter
A 1934 roadster utility is super rare. Most survivors are coupe utes. The roadster utes are not quite the same as the coupe but the sides are one piece extending back from the doors.
A friend of mine had a roadster ute, 4 cylinder at that! He did nothing with it but he did sell it to a restorer who did the full resto on it. Was on the cover of Restored Cars once upon a time.
Thought I would add this one, a friend of mine made - 1932 Coupe Ute, built from a mould of his 5W coupe !
They are super rare for sure , the one x 38 posted is I very nice example of a true Aussie classic ! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
A cabrio ute? I don't think I've ever seen vent windows like those on the doors on any '33-'34 Fords. Does the folding top incorporate the parts to form the rear and top frame for the roll-up windows on the door? Interesting.
Big thanks to those who responded, it gave me great questions to ask . . . . and the more I did, the flakier this deal got . . . and the owner threw in the towel. Back to trying to sell or trade my '54 Hudson . . .
