Guess the L29 and 810/812 Cord compairason is apples & oranges, but the L29 is a far better looking car IMO. Bob :)

Your Corvair was the only one I ever drove, I liked it. Fixed my Ford pickup and life went on. Bob

  9. bought that car from a guy who rolled it on it's side:eek::cool: [ in the snow so it had light scrapes-no dents. we hit a deer with it at 35mph, but was able to drive home[no radiator leaks:cool:] sanded it down and painted it and for the next 15 years used it as a second car and loaned it a number of times to friends in need of temporary wheels.:) sold it and it is still running around the area.

  10. Without a driver?

:D Ok guys and gals fire up the flamethrowers and prepare for the roast.IMHO,one of the nicest looking cars of the `50`s was the 1953 Studebaker starlite coupe.Looked damn good then,AND it still looks good today in unaltered form.
    Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

Corvair, the poor man's Porsche. Turbo charged, 4 wheel indendent suspension... Not many cars in the early 60's had that.

Not first as you say but i think more signifikant.
Chalmers become Chrysler in 1924 and hydraulic brakes was standard.
So it was the first car that was fairly common to have it.
And cars that have made big impact but a bit to new for this list
is Oldsmobiles front wheel drive 67. Another one is plymouth Voyager
that create a hole new style of a car.

Chalmers had them in 1923, Duesenburg in 1921. Or am I mis-understanding what you are saying?

Ok, I get you. I wasn't sure, but took note of where you were posting from, figured maybe something was being lost in "translation" (pun):D

Never thought of that one, but you can make a pretty strong case for the '49 Ford. Good call.

First American car with the fenders fully integrated into the body. More of a styling thing, but sure changed things, and influenced just about everything that came after it nonetheless.

Apparently the Deuce is on the Most Overrated list... :)

Which is better than my cars -

American Bantam, which is on the Least Significant list..

and my Corvette, on the Most Gold Chainers list.

My list of most significant American cars has 59 vehicles on it. Just can't narrow it down any more than that
