Last Saturday we bought this 34 Buick model 40 coupe with rumble seat..has 36k miles and hasn't been run in decades. No rust anywhere and the motor starts with gas down the carb.the fuel pump needs replaced due to old gas gumming it up. Not sure if we are going to flip it or what.

If it is a true survivor please do not rod it... not many nice clean originals left these days!

That car is a keeper "as is". Clean it up and show it as a HPOF vehicle. It will get plenty of attention... Great score!!!!

to qualify this thread, you must show a pic of the actual barn you found it in...

Nothing wrong with that, consumables need replacing. On the other hand... Lake pipes, a Mustang II front end, and flames on the hood would be like making grandma wear hot pink spandex pants to church.

She's a classy Buick lady and deserves the respect she's earned.

If it were mine (wish it was!) I'd update the drivetrain with something hotter....and updated wheels/tires too. I'd leave that body alone though, it's gorgeous as is.

I have one Iv'e had for 41 years still haven't run it. Quite rare car. Only about 15,000 total Model 40 coupes made in 34 & 35. Mine is a trunk model not rumble seat.

To good to touch, leave 'AS IS'. A true original time capsule with low miles. But then again, a nailhead could change things.

  23. Holy crap !!!
That looks like it wasnt forgotten about after being stashed away.

  24. Flip that thing right into my driveway.
What a great lookin' little coupe.
As cool as it would be, with a vintage Buick nailhead, it's only original once. It's easier for me to understand people Hot Rodding basket cases and jalopy's. I'm a purist at heart.
Actually got to drive a car just like this, years ago. One of my customers, restored a "golf club door" coupe. It honestly drove like a truck. Big-Ass wooden steering wheel. was a very elegant machine. Don't think anyone on the board would lynch you, if this car was done period correct. Save all the old parts. thanks for sharing. Love it!!

I'm all about Hotrodding & modifications BUT to molest a gem like this would be a crime in my opinion.

What a nice coupe, a friend of mine has a 34 plymoth coupe and its as gordius as your buick. It makes me think its so strange why the fords are so over hyped (and I got a ford )

This car was stored in a rural area near Sunbury Ohio. We found out about last year when we saw a 58 Edsel 2dr out side the structure. We bought the Edsel which had been sitting outside for many years. We got it running last year, and sold it,we found out about the Buick, and after a yr the owner consented to sell it. That how we came to own it. We cleaned off the yrs of dust and dirt and it looks pretty darn good..It has oil change stickers from the 1940s from Columbus Buick,so we think it is a local area car.
