Hi there, I'm a newby on here and am impressed with the tools and all sorts that have been built!! I seriously like the sound of this design as opposed to the commercially available, not to mention pricey, ones here in the UK. and without wishing to appear cheeky, is there a possibility that you could post up or message me a rough diagram with dimensions/additional photos to build one, especially of the throttle/temp control set up as those available in the UK may not be interchangeable? If this has been done previously please point me in the direction to the relevant post/thread? Keep up the good work, it rather looks like I'll be finding plenty to occupy me here for some time, haha

I always check out this tread when it comes up. now i have something to add. when using my stud gun, the slide HAMBer can be a pain in the ass and i always think anything would work better. so i made a stand out of a couple of BIG washers and use my pop rivet gun. it works great..

A couple months ago I had to wait 3 days for a piece of stainless to make a couple more flanges to finish the exhaust on my A so I decided to build another belt grinder while I was waiting.

    very nice work...good design.

looks like the adjustments will allow for some different length belts ?

is the upper left knob the one for belt tracking ?

  10. Not likely. Probably for using different sized contact wheels/platen. Do a google search for "belt grinder" and you'll see what I mean.

The pop rivet dent puller is pretty slick, nice job on that.

That belt sander look factory made. I've been wanting one of those for a long time. Just a question How long do the belts last? Are they expensive? Ive used 6" wide belt sanders and I always found the belts don't seem to last too long.

  12. I have almost finished a 2x72 belt sander, a very popular size. Prices vary, but I got belts in several grits for less than $5 a piece.

gatz that upper knob is for tracking. I built it for 2X72 belts but I can use 2X60 also. As Richard D said I also have a 10" contact wheel and a different platen. It was built with what I had laying around so it is much heavier than it has to be, the 6" column is 1/2 wall and the base is 1 1/2 plate. It's hard to move around but it doesn't move at all when using it. The motor is 3 h.p. 220. If you buy good belts they a long time.

This is my bead roller I've built, I started off with a 18" evilbay special, strengthened it and put a electric motor on it, then I out grew it so I started fresh. I used most of the pieces of the first one to build this, bushes, gears and lengthened shafts, it's about 36" throat, not quite finished yet but u get the idea.
    The first roller cost $300
    Electric motor conversion $500
    Materials for new one $100

    The one I wanted to buy was $2000 ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1389408799.083589.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1389408817.528026.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1389408842.732318.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1389408858.602165.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1389408871.133607.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1389408888.486104.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1389408905.750614.jpg
