Went to visit my uncle earlier this year and he showed me his latest project. He is building it from scratch. Nearly everything has been hand formed from the most basic of materials. His talent has always amazed me, but this one is over the top.
He had a small English Wheel, but most of the shaping was done by hand with a variety of different shaping tools and a lot of elbow grease.
..... The quarter elliptic (sp?) springs in the front look interesting, I'd like to see more of that front end setup.
That's pretty cool looking . People need to let the creative juices flow and sit back and enjoy the show . Hold your tongues and unless you can do better and or offer up some creative critiquing sit , watch and learn !
one of those rear spring hangers is out of alignment and he should rethink painting them yellow.(purple maybe but not yellow)
Doesn't look like that much weight on the blocks but a set of jack stands would be preferable and much safer. Standing on the outside and criticizing someone's work is petty at the least,I admire a non conformist free thinking individual that dives in head first without any conventional design only a vision. For my part I do hope you keep us up to date as work progresses. HRP
Nice to see someone crafting something outta nothing...i found myself using whatever the hell i could use when i made a rocker panel for my 56...i used a cut in the cement floor to start the bend then finished it up by rolling a round metal fence post on it as i hit the poll with a hammer...i can appreciate what hes doing..very nice..
While it's true that they do have more strength when turned the correct way, they're still brittle and not suitable for load bearing. My '27 T Roadster build: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t= 734383
