Customs '56 Chevy 2 door conversion & build thread

Here it is in fill primer, I had to reweld a lower door seam and punch the holes in the door and forward quarter panel for the '56 210 trim, now it's ready for a first blocking, hoping to see paint by the end of next week.

 

Looks really good, can't wait to see it in paint. What color you going to paint it?

 

Thanks. It's going to be two tone, blue with a white top/quarters. Another guy is doing the bodywork and paint, I'm just welding/fab on this project. Real excited to see it come together, makes me want to jump on my '57 soon.

Very nice work and you picked a great looking car to do the conversion. Donor cars are always a big help.
Doing a similar 2 door Nomad conversion on a newer 66 Malibu long roof. I ended up cutting an ElCamino completely apart for my doors, pillars and quarter sections. Some of the extra parts have also proved to be usefull on the build.
Good luck, your Dad is going to have a good time with the finished project.

It's painted, and the paint job turned out real nice, but no pics yet, will post some up soon. The car really looks great.

Nice Excellent work. That 56 looks really solid to start with, and that's the only reason I did mine. Dunno why solid 4-doors are so much easier to find than 2-doors

that is awesome,had 2 56 post back in the 60s,I now have 56 sedan delivery

 

It's had paint on it for a couple months, but I don't have any pics of it yet, will post some as soon as I have them.

 

so its a titled 4 door ?that's a 2 door

 

My dad got the title changed when he transferred it into his name. I did the same thing when I did this to my '62 Chrysler.

Haven't updated this in a while, it's painted and I've been working on the interior some, but still needs some more reassembly before it's totally finished, here's a pic I took today while I was moving cars around for wintertime.

 

The 17th of this month will be 2 years since your first post on this one.
Think you can have her done by then? Just kiddin, Shes lookin good, keep up the good work.

Still a few small things to tidy up but it's pretty much done. Will be cutting into a friend's 56 this winter for another conversion.

 

If I hadn't have seen it I wouldn't have believed it, sure could've fooled me. Congratulations on a job very well done. Your Dad should be very proud of what you accomplished.
