Gave the best Christmas Present I have ever given Today!

Today my wife and I gave my father in law our 63 Fairlane for Christmas.

here is the story, my father in law is a hell of a guy and a car guy. He had a nice 40 ford hot rod he sold to put his oldest boy through collage before I ever met him. He is a man of few words and is the kind of guy who always gives to others rather than get what he wants. He has been around for a few of my builds and helps-watches and looks on. He is the most talented welder I have ever met, he was a welder/fabricator for 40+ years. Retired a couple years ago and is at the age where a full build will never be done. We want him to do car stuff with our family, my boys are 9 and 5 and we do lots of car stuff with my parents. Last fall I picked up a nice original 1 owner 63 Fairlane sedan, I intended to clean it up and flip it at back to the 50's next year. He saw it and loved it in October when I got it. As a joke I told my wife we should give it to him for Christmas, I got the roll of the eyes. Fast forward to a month ago. I bought another car that was on my bucket list of cars, it needs some work to be a driver for this summer so I put the fairlane on here for sale to free up funds for the new project. That night my wife asked if I was serious when I said it would be fun to give it to her dad. The rest is history. I have been married to his daughter for 17 great years and this is is the 2nd time I have seen him get choked up, what a great feeling to pay it forward to a guy who really deserves it!

Made me think about my dad, he's been gone since 1995 but still miss him. he was a very handy guy and always there for me when I was growing up I and I was always there for him when he got old and sick, kind of role reversal. God I miss him especially this time of year all of you that still have your dads give them a big hug at Christmas. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

I'm nearly lost for words. This is one of the nicest things I've heard in a long time. You and your wife are great people. I'm an old guy myself and have no idea what I'd say or do if my kids did something like that. Of course I don't need another old car and my kids aren't into rods or customs.
