I did the search function and very little options showed up. I'm planning to buy a 5 in recessed firewall for my 1940 ford coupe. I initially thought of buying from Bob Drake but it has been out of stock for a while now, besides its a bit pricey.
I found these options for firewall and floor sections and I wonder if anyone have bought from these guys, they seem ok and feedback is fair, opinions please.

Of course I'm looking for options with the best quality/fit and looks. Any guidance will be very much appreciated.

Initially I thought of using a 3 in recess only, but comments from a friend (who has built several coupes) told me I'd be better off with a 5 in recess. My plans are to run a supercharged SBF (still to be defined due to supercharger availability for Fords). I'm
kind of following the advise of someone with more experience.
Same price for 3 in or 5 in though. I'm more concerned about fit quality.
I'll take a look at bitchn fw.

Bitchen is no longer in business. You really don't need a 5 inch recess unless you are running a big set-back for the blower drive. A large set-back requires major frame modifications but that is not hard. Leg room is what you should be concerned with that much (5") set-back. Try direct sheetmetall for a firewall.

if you run a SBC, you can use your stock firewall

Thanks for the comments, I'll try to see if I can get into a car with a 5 in set back, I'm not too tall LOL but definitely something to consider, besides my truck, which has plenty of engine room, this is the first 40's project I tackle. Thanks guys.

For what it is worth my 40 has the 5 inch and I have a 392 hemi which is pretty big front to back and there is plenty of room probably could have used a 3 inch for more leg room. I'll post a few pics for you.

1940 ford coupe.. stock firewall.. 302 ford with AOD..

note that the center of the firewall is wider.. no need for any aftermarket smooth firewalls..

i'm putting that same 302/aod in my 40 coupe. do you think it was totaly nessesary to widen the middle section like that? i'm not quite ready to drop the body back on and start checking out clearences yet. i'm still re-installing a stock 40 firewall because someone before me hacked the stock on out.
