  2. from CNN: "Reporter Denise Ramirez sent in this photo of herself from 1969, when she was a sophomore at Norwalk High School in Norwalk, California, she said. "Creating this do took a lot of work. The main thing was getting the Aquanet buildup."

I believe these images are part of Lorenzo Bandini's '67 crash at Monaco in a Ferrari 312, which took his life. I remember seeing it as part of a "pre-recorded" ABC Wide World of Sports show (bad taste by ABC, too, me thinks). Just a horrible fire. A few videos are on the web, should you want to search them out and see how far auto racing safety and especially track safety has come since then. Gary

Imagine how long it took to get the hair looking like that and having to wait for her to get it done.

I'm actually casually shopping for a baja bug, mainly because I couldn't afford one way back then (yeah i know they weren't that much) now all these years later got more than enough money, but not sure what I would do with it, but life is like that.

7 day suspension over. Have now caught up on 30+ pages in this, my favorite thread. Am humbled by the support. Thanks to each of you who took the time to write something. Made all the time spent researching contributions worthwhile.

Every day, I put aside images stumbled across while browsing in a separate tab. Each is subsequently Googled for two reasons, to see if it has been posted previously in this thread, and if not, to find a preferred size (larger than small, 1280 max). I did try harder than most not to repeat (which is impossible). These images were then posted the following day after structuring to provide a flow, or theme. Some of you picked up on that.

90% of what I post in Vintage Shots is '40s-'50s; never VW (unless maybe in background), Mustang, muscle crap, or nudity; infrequently anything post-'65 or motorcycle. Can't evenly predict my subject matter. When 'new' rod rods & kustoms don't pop up with regularity, I feel the next best option is posting those items that provided direct inspiration for them during those periods: Cars, women, aviation, racing. If/when something like an early Jane Fonda (or faux-vintage) image slipped through, I was quick to delete.

There was no reason given for my suspension. I can't relay why it happened. Upon returning, noticed PMs stating 3 of my posts in this thread had been deleted. No clue what they were this point. Frankly, I'm more hesitant posting now (as swi66 also mentioned) without having an inclination what specifically was wrong and not wanting to repeat "mistake". I do not think it would have been too difficult for whichever moderator responsible for suspension to have taken a moment for a sentence fragment stating reason - yet am realistic enough to understand that probably won't happen. Volunteers have better things to do with their time.

I do apologize for whatever mistake was made.
