Ryno, thanks for letting dad and I stop by to see the progress on Jeff's Merc. I am swamped in getting my calendars out right now but I hope tonight or tomorrow to have a few photos up of the frame from Sunday. See you in Texas!

Nice to see a Merc thread that doesn't start with a vehicle that isn't so much car as a bunch of rust pits flying in formation.

How's the articulation on that rear suspension? Nice simple/clean design, just wondering how much travel you get at the wheel before it binds.

I don't doubt that it'll travel enough for a car like this, I'm just curious about what the actual number is.

    please do.
thanks. i will get some articulation pics for you. it will droop mor ethen you think, but not as much as a 4 link or other link set ups, but then again, its not designed to do so. like you said, clean simple is the key for retaining the rear seat and not having to cut more then needed floor space up

yes sir, im super excited for the finished product also!

    Good work!

Are you planning on chopping it?
I personally love seeing an un-chopped merc sometimes....

I am pretty sure we will chop it, we will see how it looks back on the chassis now that it will be on the ground. I personally think the Mercs need chopped.
I am thinking about a chop, some decroming but not a lot of other body mods, maybe lowering the tailights a couple inches. Ryno has done some very nice work on the chassis and more nice work to come.

the chassis has a street rod engineering mustang 2 type front x member installed in it. it was bought a few years ago, and was supplied with some really small, scarey air bags. so we decided to make the changes, so it will have more travel, ride better, and require less air psi to be at drive height.

the stock set up with the 2600 pd bag that i wanted to run, not enough clearance.

i decided to make a pocket into the frame rail and section out the x member for more room.

i also decided to clean up the top hats and make my own bag mounts that tie everything together. much more room now.

got the body set down on frame and floor cut out for frame clearance.
going to narrow read end housing up 1" per side for more room.
