What front tire are you running? What would you recommend? Let's say for an A body mopar, bias ply? Or Radial? Car will probably not see any track time, maybe a pass or two here or there.... So whatcha recommend? Or let's see pics of yours! Thanks
Moroso drag special 5.50x15 they make two bigger sizes I choose this to keep my crank at 24" for NHRA rules here's some pictures. Ill have better ones by the weekend. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Man I love those. I shy'd away from them last go around, something about "Sensibility" bullshit was in my head. Regret it. I need runners! Look bitchin
I ran some 6.50/15 on my 66 chey II years ago. They where pep boys tires, but I ended up selling it before I go to put a whole lot of miles on it! So i wasn't sure if I should go that route again, or something different.. I plan on going the Towel City pie crust route on the rears, so it's time to plan for the fronts!
Just get the Towel City Front Runners and your done, pull the trigger, get 'em, mount them and rock on !
I run 7.75 x 15 BFG Silvertown bias plys mounted on 15" x 3.5" Fenton Gyros on the front of my '57 Chevy gasser. Tall (27") and skinny. Tall, skinny tires up front are an old drag racer trick, they allow a car to stage deeper and they break the timing beams at the finish line a fraction of a second faster. They also look great.
Size depends on what rim you will run, but I run radials on both of my cars. They don't look as cool as bias plies, but if it's mostly street I want it to drive well. I've got 3.5" rims on the Austin and run 165-15, but wider on the Falcon, plus the weight of the BBC, so it's 185 on it.
It is a big block car, plus I scored a set of Cragar 15x4's I was gonna sell but I think I'm gonna keep them now......
I ran Coker 6.40 15's BFG silvertowns on my 65 Chevy II. I think a taller tire looks better on a later model straight axle car. Meltdown Drags July 18,19,20 2014 www.meltdowndrags.com
