If I am correct, I believe this is the 2nd custom that Starbird built in Wichita, Kansas. It was on loan from the current owner to be in Starbirds place in Oklahoma. It had all chrome running gear, with uniroyal whitewalls on both sides. Flathead ford engine. Here is a pic from about 10 yrs ago I took at a local car show gathering in Salina, Ks. The man with the white shirt(and hair) is the current owner, and bought it from Darrell in the 60's. Still has the original candy apple red paint with white pinstriping.

Thanks for this thread. I needed to have my memory adjusted. I got really turned off by the end of the '60s and remembered the time as the wrong wheels, paint. and upholstery on great '50s cars. Telephone booths, bath tubs, and caskets with engines didn't get it for me. You have reminded me of the best time in drag racing with classes for everyone and drag strips everywhere. Also the multitude of great rods and customs that were driven every day. Some how seeing the progression from a distance is easier than standing in the middle of it. Thanks!

Oh the things I'd do to own some of the cars posted in this thread.

I'd say that these have made a big impact on me. I'm a sucker for weiand drag stars.
