Event Coverage The Race of Gentlemen, 2nd Annual 2013

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dirtyest Devil, Jul 9, 2013.

  1. Ok, if it's 2014 teaser time, I'm going really old school.

Here's my "New" 1921 Olds 3 port head. About to ship out to the machinist for porting, conversion to 1.5:1 rockers, hardened valve seats, new stainless valves and a general makeover. The cost of which makes me question the description of said conversion as a "poor man's Rajo"!

Shooting for 8:1 compression ratio with vintage crossflow goodness.

Nice! Is this going on a Chevy or getting an adaptor for Ford use? Bob [IMG]

I still have not seen a photo of me being pulled out of Mike's car from the Friday night pre-party. I was pretty drunk and having fun. Found out that getting in is a lot easier the getting out.

I don't often sit in a mans car, but when I do I make sure it's Mike Santiago's..........:D

I was afraid we wern't going to be able to get TJ out and I would have to drive the NO. 9 car the rest of the weekend. Good times.

While sitting on the beach watching the cars blast up and down I told my wife how I want to enter my A rpu for next year. She said no, your going to build another car! I knew I loved her for something. So im in the beginning stages of a single seater flathead v8 car.

  20. I had a meeting with the boys the other day. We had a discussion about track conditions and the competition last year.

We have decided that we will no longer allow knobby tires on bikes or cars. No paddles either please!

Over the course of the day the track just gets to beat. To many ruts, to many disadvantages for guys, and it would be a lot easier on us all with street tires at lower pressure.

We here on the East Coast have a few beaches where you can get to certain surf breaks or fishing spots via a 4 wheel drive. As a kid we learned to jump out before the beach, lock up the 4 wheel, and lower air pressure for dad.

I personally have only run street tires on my bike and cars and felt I did very well while others tried out their knobby tires.

So for all you guys building or collecting parts for Trog 2014. Please be aware of the new rule. Thanks! And boy, I can't wait!!!

shit , i searched the world over looking for a set of WWII era seiberling original mud and snow tires to run next year if i get a car in the ROG . they aren't a Knobby really but have a pretty aggressive lug style and are definitely 1942' to 48' production tire. not repop !!! i was thinking as long as the technology is war time then we should be good . they have a flat top profile so they wont dig in too much but the side lugs will help in the loose stuff headed out to the hard packed beach . here is a pic of the tires lemme know what ya think???

  24. Trust me, you get less traction. U wind up digging instead of launching.

I've had them for quite a few years. Bought them off of RottenRon at Canfield swap. He bought them at Hershey quite a few years before.

It's no big deal. I just had them, that's the only reason I was going to use them. I thought my street tires did well on Saturday, not so well on Sunday.

I'm going to switch to 16" wires with some Kevin Lee Lyons wheel covers.

We had ninnies just cause that's what was on the car......like Mel said ,if you came off the line hard you just Sat there and dug a hole. We had to come off the line slow then hit it.

I think the tires that worked best was the Firestone dirt trackers on the 32 5 window.
