I have totally let this thread fall apart! This time of year is extremely busy for me at work so I haven't had the time to get any major work done. Lately I've just been plugging away at the wiring.

Here's a picture that JJ took this past weekend when he stopped in to hang out a bit

I wish I had more to update guys! Ive been swamped at work so progress has been limited. I'll do a better update in the near future.... When I actually get something done worth talking about.

    Thanks for the interest!

  29. What a terrific build!

Love seeing the pics of Curt Rs car also. It´s refreshing to see a Merc sitting level and with no skirts.

Well I have been seriously slacking on my build thread and lately it seems that I take one step forward and two steps back!

I fired the engine and got everything tuned In. She fired off ez and broke in with only minor issues. The entire time we had a noise deep in the engine that we were hoping would quiet down.... Long story shot, piston to wall clearance was off and it was find a new block and start over or have custom pistons made.
I couldn't afford a set of custom pistons so i had I start from scratch with a new block.
That gave my dad a good reason to head south for some good father son shop time:) he could pass the opportunity to help me yank my car apart... Especially since he was miffed that he wasn't here when we fired it off for break in!

    Anyway! Enough with the downers!

While the motor was out for rebuild I decided to pull focus back on the sheet metal work.

I had some poor quality repairs that were done by a "professional" on the quarters that needed addressed so I started cutting...

After that was addressed it was time finally weld it on. The other quarter is still fubar and is requiring a fair amount more work...I hope to get to it this weekend.
Here's the the finished passenger side quarter and the process ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1403148030.540109.jpg

Fully tig welded, ground down and then leaded.

File file file and more filing

That pretty much gets this thread back up to date. More to come soon!
