Good eye. I've looked at that picture a dozen times and never saw the lights.

I love this thread to death especially the truly unique one off lights that people build outside the box. I'm looking for a set to put on my 34 tudor it's fenderless. I have some old 30's cowl lights that I made red lenses for; for a buddy of mine and he didn't use them so I'm thinking on my car but I'm conflicted. I re-purposed the arms from my 37 spindles to make mounts for them.

I finished up the tail lights on my 34 sedan. They are early 30 chevy cowl lights I converted.[IMG]

I'm building a 60 gmc fleetside short box, 60s inspired mild custom. I'm toying with the idea of something other than the stock tail lights, but want to keep it in the same era. Anyone have any ideas? ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1430065183.441575.jpg
These are what the tail lights are stock, sorry I just don't have the box on my truck yet so this is stolen off google.

As far as the tailgate goes, I have a 57 step side one with the big M logo I will be cutting out and replacing on the stock fleet tailgate. Any ideas are appreciated!

I think I would recess the stock lights, or maybe find a light that has the same
Flat look only a little smaller and recess it. That area just isn't very conducive of a different shaped light.

This is what I was thinking too. I don't want them to "bulge" out of the back of the box.

  20. Remove tailight, discard cheesy aluminum bezel and reassemble. An option would be to sand all bumps, lettering and ridges off the lens...looks like an expensive frenching job

  21. I like the simple look when it comes to taillights.

On the '54 Ranch Wagon I use the original tail light but opted to leave the chrome star piece off. HRP

  22. '61-63 Ford truck; roughly the same bed contours so the shape will 'fit', but with a bit more 'style'. You'll have to French them in. You could even go up to '72 Ford truck, but the later ones have back-up light lenses included in them. The '73-77 Ford truck light is almost a perfect match for contour, but still has the back-up; maybe use the taillight bucket, and fab a 'plain' lens for it. I know these are newer, but will be easy to find... LOL

  23. I know this post is really old, but what rear bumper are you using?

Glad this thread came back up.

This is pretty tame but here's the in progress pic of putting '50 Pontiac tail lights in Clarence:

Wish this was my shop, but it isn't. This shop is much better equipped than mine and the guy that owns it is way more talented than I am.

You'll note that there are two license plate indentations. The bottom one is new and the one in the door is going away.

Jeffrey, all your pictures have disappeared (probably Photobucket mischief). Could you re-post them, please?
