Definitely one of the best. I hope 63 wagon can be half as cool some day.

I'd say leave it, pretty classy right there.

Hey..I know that wagon - and it is very cool!
We need to get on Pike to finish his Falcon wagon,
since we spent so much time on the teardown.

Good time to resurrect this old thread.... ;)

Can't really add much to what's already been said, it's such an awesome, cool looking wagon... and very inspiring. I'll be keeping yours in mind as I work on my own recent aquisition.

Someone needs to save that '61 before the scrappers spot it.

If only it were closer! I'm looking for the 5 lug parts for a Falcon project, but a 2 door wagon would be cool too.

First time to see your wagon KK, looking righteous!

This is the first time I've seen this thread and I have to say what a beautiful wagon. I hope that you haven't decided to drill holes in your roof. I have nothing against a roof rack, I just think it is just so clean without it. I would have to say that if you get bored with the car and you feel compelled to do something to spice it up why not build a teardrop trailer to tow behind it? Matching wheels and tires. Colors to match the car and even the interior matching.

Thanks Crowen and Doc, it's exactly the same as the last update. I like your suggestion better than another recent one - to make it a gasser. Uh, no.

Update, and it's been awhile since this car has seen any love. About two years ago, the 289 started running poorly on the way to a show, and very poorly on the way back. Replaced a bunch of external engine stuff, trying the cheap fixes first, nothing helped. Pulled the heads off, #1 cylinder had a broken ring, heavily gouged bore, block already at .040, this engine is junk. I found a low-ish mile standard bore 302, a friend and I rebuilt it with ported '68 302 4V heads and a mild Crane cam, and now it runs better than it ever did with the tired 289 that was a mid-lifer from the get-go.

The lowered look was cool, but it's been slammed since '07, and it was time for a different look. So I returned it to stock height, and added powder coated steelies with '56 Merc dog dish caps, along with 295-14 tires. It's a new look, alright, and it drives completely differently too, steers easier and handles much better.

I might drop the front end 3/4 inch or so, but maybe not, I'm liking it so far.
