Technical need help on repairing old aluminum heads

i have a set of old weiand aluminum flatheads i am using on a 1952 v8 in my '30 ford roadster. around the coolant ports in the heads, there is some wear due to the coolant. i brought them to a welding shop today,and he tried to weld a couple different ways. mig,tig. neither seemed to be penetrating. anyone have any ideas on how i can clean these up? they are not real bad,i just dont want any leaks. he suggested jb weld, then have them resurfaced. he has done that before with aluminum,and has had great success. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, 3desotos

 

Could you post a picture so we can see what your up against?

 

Hope your guy didn't ruin your heads. Clean them up really well, grind out any blobs he left behind, and take them to a different guy. Or ask on here for a recommendation for qualified folks near you.

 

Post a picture if you can, one of the surface and one with the gasket laid on it...
There are some areas exposed to coolant that are not really clamping area...

Seen guys run way worse. You could use a dab if jb weld and smooth it out. Use a sacrificial anode in the coolant with aluminum heads to prevent this.

Those are practically brand new. Run them as is.
