Haha... I've been wondering the same thing. With the previous powerplant, this blown Y-block has some big shoes to fill!

  4. What engine is that?

I REMEMBER (?) this pic being posted as a "teaser" of things to come when the coupe went to Tardel's two years ago. Maybe I remembered incorrectly. DD

The SBC made over 700hp on pump gas at one point. So, no... The car won't be as fast. It might be quicker though simply because traction is now a realistic goal!

That being said, the SBC will have a home someday and one more fitting of it's original intent.

Not a chance in hell. It's still very much a long term project. Keith is gonna be busy moving and setting up shop... And I still have 3 (sometimes 4) kids to juggle. And I have enough deadlines in my life.

I like to take projects slowly and have fun in the moment with them.

  11. Congrats to you AND Keith!

That tight twistin' skinny block sure sounded good, but the Y block will be way more better. Congratulations. (to everybody)

    See ya, -Abone.

  13. Is that timing cover a one off piece, or somthing aftermarket? I'd love to get my hands on one...

  18. Looks like Dean's Y-Block from John's Rod And Custom here in oz. They cast their own intakes and fuel blocks and both look like theirs. PM Thunder Road (Luke his brother) he'll have more info on it Chris.

I have been so proud of the speed shop recently and its dedication to it's self and the addition of Kieth just makes it that much better. So much to look forward to, the horizon looks great!

    Is the 4th Joyo?

    Very cool, Ryan.
I had one of those as a kid. Mine was red. Those wheels are distinctive enough to spot from a mile away...

Congrats on getting your car back Ryan. I know the feeling (to a lesser extent). My project was 600 miles away for 4 years and it felt great to finally get it back. I was just looking at 38's online this afternoon before I checked the HAMB, saw one at Jalopyrama that stuck in my head. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build.

Well, I think this news about solidifies Austin as the new epicenter of the traditional hot rod scene. Sorry California.
