my hydraulic flare tool is awesome, much better than the wrench method. I also recently found out that the power bleeder sucks when I was working on my diesel truck.

i am trying to decide whether to use a stick on or a spray on sound deadner. Stick on is around $300 or so with spray on (lizard skin) around $130 but then there is the gun which is another $76; so is about a wash. I am wondering if a texture gun would spray the lizard skin; might save $$ if so.

What brand/style of flaring tool are you using?

With so many spray-on coatings, have you seen/read any real world test reports with actual details from the technical side of things? It seems like a huge crap shoot if we only have the manufacturers info to base a purchase on. I have read many posts from hambers saying how great their particular brand performed, but how does one choose?

i am using a Master Cool set; I think I got it from Eastwood. I have both the 37 and 45 degree sets. Not cheap, but it does produce consistant clean flares.

No I cannot say I have seen any actual tests on any of the coatings. I do know the stick on stuff works as I have used it on other projects and been in vehicles with it. I see the spray on stuff being used a lot on the car shows which of course doesnt mean it works, but I do like the concept of it.

    there are 2 things I need to figure out;

    1. how to put a "ridge" or "bubble in a piece of 1/2" copper pipe. this is for my heater on whihc I had to file the inlet and outlets and now they are just straight and smooth.

    2. how to "swage" a ball onto a steel cable. I know how it is done, I believe there is a die system, but I need to figure out what I need. I need this for my parking brake system.

If you're building an air suspension, this should be the bottomed out stance.

Currently I am not building an air suspension, this is on leafs in the rear and coils in the front. it is low but not bottomed out, there is still room all the way around.

Have you asked the guys over on the PilotHouse forum? I saw some chatter awhile back about interior work but can't recall the details.

no I havent but I will. I am planning on ordering an interior kit mainly for the headliner, but I would really like to know more about them before spending $250

i am not sure what happened here, but it got awefully quiet. I am not sure it is worth the effort to upload anymore pictures to this site.

Mayby a case of more interest in the Hemi than the rest of the truck, or maybe the Holidays....

It certainly could cause one to doubt the interest level when folks don't bother to offer comments, and, if you don't have to take the time to upload pics you could be working on the truck...

Wake up folks, it is a great project.

its not about validation at all; I originally began this thread along with the same thing on another forum for others to see and perhaps offer constructive comments or get inspiration for thier own projects. This is the reason I visit forums, to get inspiration or figure out how to do something or perhaps a different way to do it. I want to see someone working on something like I am or even better exactly what I am. That said, if no one is watching or deriving anything from me posting (which does take time and forthought), then I dont want to worry about it. I am definitely not looking for accolades or as you say "validation" as I dont care if someone likes what I am doing or not as it is my truck, however if someone else sees something I am doing and either gets an idea of how to do the same thing on thier truck, or sees something I am doing and knows a better way, positing is worth it. Sorry for the rant, but I was concerned that my comment would bring something like this about. I am a car guy and love nothing more than talking cars, forums are a way to do this in a much greater population. There is some awesome talent on this forum and what they have posted inspried me to do the same.

I will continue to post through to the end, I started this and will see it through. I apprecitate those watching and the comments.

To that end, I intended on working on the truck this weekend, however I discovered that the previous owner of my 98 3500 only had water in the cooling system and it recently went to the low 20's for a while, so..... yes, frozen cooling system but worse was the temporary expandable freeze plug behind the turbo that pushed out, but worse than that is the 14" crack underneath the freeze plugs... got to love all of that... JB weld is your friend...

    Happy holidays to everyone.

I guess I'll say I'm a quiet lurker, who sadly can't add much but to say I enjoy reading your story. Thanks for posting!
